Winter in the Black Hills
The Black Hills National Forest encompasses an area 125 miles long and 65 miles wide over western South Dakota and northeastern Wyoming.
SCENIC DRIVES: Beautiful roads such as Needles Highway and Hwy 14 through Spearfish Canyon have drawn motorists from all over the country to their winding paths through some of the area’s most gorgeous views. This wintery wonderland filled with frozen creeks and waterfalls is a sight to see.
HIKING, BIKING SNOWSHOEING & MORE: Whether on foot or riding a bike, snowshoeing or exploring on snowmobiles, the roads and trails of the Black Hills offer endless hours of exploration and breathtaking scenery.
EASY STROLLS: If your idea of hiking takes on a gentler note, head to downtown Rapid City for the City of President's Walking Tour. Life-size bronse statues of past presidents adorn the city's street corners and sidewalks.
